The Goan Green Chutney is very popular in India-Goa, it’s very easy to prepare like fresh or desiccated coconut and coriander/cilantro leave with cumin, green chilly tamarind, sugar, it’s very delicious in taste, tangy spicy and sweet flavour. This chutney is one of my childhood favourites as my mum use to prepare in bulk batch and store in an airtight container, for use for tea time, breakfast, it also serves for parties, wedding ceremony, gets together, kids lunch box.
Health Benefit for Cilantro / Coriander Leaves :
Cilantro herb is very low in calories and contains no cholesterol.
It is also rich in many vital vitamins, including folic acid, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin-A, beta carotene, vitamin-C, which are essential for optimum health.
Health Benefit for Lettuce Leaves :
Lettuce leaves are one of the very low-calorie green vegetables.
Fresh leaves contain good amounts of folates and vitamin C.
Vitamin C is a powerful natural antioxidant; regular consumption of foods rich in vitamin C helps the body develop resistance against infectious agents
Ingredient for Chutney :
Coriander leaves 1 cup
Coconut 1/2 cup
Garlic cloves 3 piece
Green chillies 3
Cumin 1/2 tsp.
Turmeric 1/2 tsp.
Sugar 2 tbsp.
Butter 3 tbsp.
Tamarind small piece
Salt to taste
Ingredients for Sandwich :
Bread slices 6
1. To prepare chutney, clean & wash coriander leaves neatly.
2. In a blender add cilantro/coriander leaves, coconut, tamarind, green chillies, sugar, garlic cloves, turmeric pwd, cumin and salt, water and blend into a smooth paste.
3. Store the chutney in a glass jar, It stays for a 1-week store in the fridge, use the clean spoon whenever use.
Assemble Sandwich :
1. To prepare a sandwich to take a slice of bread, cut the edges apply butter, spread chutney and relish with tea or coffee.

1.Add the sugar & salt according to taste.
2. Deseed for less spicy.
