Cumin / Jeera Rice is very simple & flavorful rice and can be prepared in few minutes. It goes on any gravies. It contains essential minerals. (A tablespoon of cumin will give you 6 percent of the recommended daily value of magnesium for adults.)
Ingredients :
2 cup long grain basmati rice
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tbs cumin seeds
4 cups water
salt to taste / Iused chicken maggie
Method :
Take a deep pot on the flame add oil at medium heat add cumin seeds, and cook until they splutter.
Do not allow the cumin seeds to burn or become really dark brown in color.
Add the rice and saute gently it in the oil for about 1 minute.
Add the water and salt/Maggie and bring to a boil. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
Cook the rice for approximately 15 minutes.
If you feel the rice is getting burnt near the base of the pot as it cooks, you can place the saucepan on another flat pan or griddle which is directly on the flame. Toss gently with a fork.
Check the rice is done switch off the flame and let it cool for a while & Serve with any gravy Veggie or No-Veggie.
